History of Royal Heights

1963 Original Purchase of property by Kingcrest Baptist Church and Capilano Southern Baptist Association. RHBC started as a mission of Pike Road Baptist Church, Surrey.
1965 Construction began on the first unit building (now referred to as the annex).
First Worship service in July.
1967 Royal Heights was organized under the leadership of Pastor Allen Schmidt.
1974 Present auditorium completed.
1975 Victoria Baptist Church (Victoria) began as a mission.
1976 West Whalley Baptist Church (Surrey) began as a mission.
1979 Village Hills Baptist Church (Delta) began as a mission.
1981 Resignation of church’s first pastor, Allen Schmidt.
1983 Eugene Laird was called as pastor.
1986 Resignation of Eugene Laird.

Westside Baptist Church (Langley) began as a mission.

Sponsoring church for Primera Iglesia Bautista (Surrey-Delta).

Kim Norwood began his pastorate.
1988 Resignation of Kim Norwood.
1989 Paul Johnson began his pastorate.
1995 Associate Pastor Tom Blackaby hired.
1996 Became sponsoring church for God's Grace Vietnamese Baptist Church.
1998 Resignation of Paul Johnson.
1999 Resignation of Tom Blackaby.
2000 Eric Walsh began his pastorate.

Sam Viswasam began as Associate Pastor of Missions & Discipleship.
2003 Resignation of Eric Walsh.
2004 Associate Pastor Sam Viswasam becomes Interim Pastor.
2006 Resignation of Interim Associate Pastor Sam Viswasam.

Alan Braun began his pastorate – April 9th.
